Welcome to this little haven of mine. I have started this blog as a way of combing through my thoughts on issues and theories that flow through my life as an academic. I am currently a doctoral candidate in the School of Media, Film, and Television at the University of Auckland, New Zealand.
I would like to think of this blog as an informal space where I get to identify, address, and discuss my thought processes. I am an academic newbie, and I think starting a blog to jot down my journey and my discoveries might be a good way to start.
I also see this blog as a process of self-discovery. As informed by the methodology of autoethnography, I see my writing as being self-reflexive in relation to my specific social position and experiences. My research interests are mostly related to my own experience as a gay Asian migrant in New Zealand. I hope I get to share some of my thoughts and perspectives further down the line as I venture more into the field.
This blog is not just about my academic perspectives. It is about my adventures, feelings, life, and my thoughts. I believe through this blog, you and I will get to see a well-rounded, multi-dimensional, and a down to earth Joe.
